Have there been times in your life where you have had to stand alone? You know when a situation has arisen and it seems that everyone else believes one thing yet you believe something else?
God has done some of His most extraordinary work through the minority: a single lone person that He has used to impact the world. Think of David, Elijah, Joseph and Moses to name only a few.
God often uses the minority to influence the majority!
God doesn’t need a majority vote to get things done; all He is looking for is one willing heart.
The other day I was in a Christian chat room and the topic of infidelity came up. A lady shared how she had been unfaithful to her husband and was racked with guilt over it. I was completely astounded and outraged by the response of the other ladies who encouraged her to keep her infidelity a secret!
I was unable to keep my mouth shut! The guilt she felt was not only from her indiscretion but it was from the fact that she was keeping a secret from the person she was in a covenant relationship with. This deceit was affecting all of her life. She needed to come clean with her husband.
But I was a lone voice.
This situation reminded me of a story in the bible when King Jehoshaphat inquired of the Lord as to whether he should join with King Ahab in battle together. Four hundred of the prophets said yes, that God would give them victory but one lone voice said no. Imagine being that one lone prophet against four hundred. Do you think you would have still stood for what you believed?
Have you experienced times in life where you have been that lone voice? Where everybody else is saying turn right yet you feel in your spirit to turn left?
In 2 Chronicles 16:9 we read that the Lord’s eyes search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts that are fully committed to Him.
Taking a stand can be a very lonely and intimidating place, but God sees you and His eyes are on you and He will strengthen you. My encouragement to you is to continue to stand and be confident in what you feel the Lord is saying to you.
The reality is that you are not alone God is with you. The question to ask yourself at the end of the day is, who are you going to serve? Are you going to cower to the pressure of man and go with the majority or are you going to serve God even if it means you will be left standing on your own?
God is with you in this moment. He sees your heart and your desire to follow Him alone. Don’t be afraid to stand alone as a minority because you may be just the person God uses to influence the majority!
Lord,
Thank you that when I take a stand I am not alone because You are right beside me. I need You to strengthen me to continue to stand until Your will comes to pass.
Amen
