Have you ever met someone who was nasty to you for no reason?
Often when we experience people like this we want to get as far away from them as possible.
Someone once told me that “Hurt people, hurt people!”
Time and time again I have found that people who hurt other people have their own story of pain.
What a different perspective we get when we understand that these people are doing and saying hurtful things out of the hurt they are feeling themselves.
While this does not condone bad behaviour it does help us to approach them with grace.
1 Peter 3:8-9 reminds us that we should sympathize with one another being tenderhearted and humble. Not repaying evil for evil rather blessing them. And when we do this we receive God’s blessing.
This is hard to do but in living this out we show the compassion of Christ to a hurting world.
