Is it Wise to Have Fear?

What are you most afraid of?

Proverbs 1:7 tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Fear is something we often associate as bad and something to avoid, yet in scripture we see that fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge.

Fear of God is a reverence that comes from acknowledging His power and authority and being willing to submit to Him.

Sometimes we can get flippant with God. We ignore Him, we don’t obey Him and we even dare to demand that He fits in with our agenda.

The reality is that fearing God is not for His benefit it is for ours. He doesn’t need us to fear Him in order for Him to be God.

So where is your heart today, when it comes to fearing the Lord?  Have you become apathetic with Him or are you posturing yourself before Him acknowledging just how almighty He is?
