Have you ever experienced deep anguish and distress?
As we approach Easter, we remember the deep anguish and distress that Jesus faced in Gethsemane. So much so that blood was dripping from His brow.
Now while we may not experience anguish to the depths Jesus did, we are not strangers to pain and suffering.
In Ps 118:5 David says In my distress I prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered me and set me free.
There is an all-consuming nature to distress and anguish and one that we find hard to escape from. When Jesus felt this burden, He took it to His Father. When we do the same God, offers to take the heaviness of it and replace it with freedom and peace.
God doesn’t necessarily take the situation away. Jesus still went to the cross. But God gives us the strength we need to journey through anguish and come out on the other side.
