Have you ever felt you don’t have any skills or talents that anyone else would benefit from? Do you feel that what you have to offer is not that valuable at all?
We all experience times where we feel that we are just not good enough to be of any use to anyone especially God! But that is simply not true!
Scripture is filled with stories of people who did not feel good enough, however, they had one thing that made them stand out from the rest. It is so simple and I want to share it with you today.
Every time I sit down to write a post I am faced with a question. What I could possibly have to offer to inspire and encourage you! What can I say that would speak to the struggles you face?
I am a stay-at-home mum, not a career high flier. I am passionate about God but not a theologian. Most of the time I have more questions about life than answers and the list of mistakes I have made seems endless.
One day Jesus was teaching a large crowd of about 5000 people. He had been teaching all day and as evening approached the disciples suggest that it would be a good time to send the people away to buy food for themselves. But Jesus responds in a rather confronting way. He says to the disciples “That’s not necessary, you feed them.”
The disciples felt they didn’t have what the people needed.
Sometimes we feel that we don’t have what people need but that’s not how God sees it.
It was true that those 2 fish and 5 loaves the disciples had were not going to make any kind of difference to that crowd of 5000. But those 2 fish and 5 loaves placed in the hands of Jesus meant that a multitude was fed with leftovers.
It is true that we all experience times of doubt in our own abilities but the answer to doubts is to realise that we don’t need to rely on our abilities in order to be successful. What we need to rely on is God.
God is not interested in our ability He is interested in our availability.
This is the one thing that makes the ordinary stand out from the rest. A person’s willingness to trust and obey is what God uses to do incredible things.
How willing are we to trust God with the little we have and watch Him multiply it?
Don’t ever underestimate what God has placed in your hands. Because when you trust God with it He can do mighty things.
It’s true that every time I sit at my computer I question what to say that would possibly make a difference to your life?
But what I do know is this. If I am willing to be obedient and use what God has placed in my hands He will bless it and His plans will be done through me.
The same is true for you. It may only look like you don’t have much in your hands but in being willing to use it gives us the opportunity to see what God can do with the little we have.
What is God asking you to do right now?
Lord,
Today I choose to trust You with what is in my hands. It does not seem much to me and I feel very inadequate but I know that You are not interested in my ability you are interested in my availability. So it is my availability I offer to you today. Thank you that you use the ordinary to do the extraordinary.
Amen
